We're Hiring

We’ve got the following role available:

Senior Web & Platform Developer

As a Senior Web & Platform Developer you work alongside members of the PaperKite team – as well as clients and third parties – to develop quality software and systems that form the foundation of each digital experience we create.

You crave the challenge of taking an already high performing team to new heights, identifying and investing in up-skilling and delivering superior ways of working.

Intermediate Web & Platform Developer

As an Intermediate Web & Platform Developer you work alongside members of the PaperKite team – as well as clients and third parties – to develop quality software and systems that form the foundation of each digital experience we create.

You are a problem solver by nature. You take into consideration the longevity, quality, and end user experience of what we are creating. You are focussed on building secure, stable, and performant software that meets (or exceeds) the brief every time. And of course you bring a level of play and fun into the work you create.

How we support our team to do their most meaningful work

PaperKite Xmas Party

People come first

People are front and centre of everything we do. We are a diverse team with a range of experiences and strengths that make us mighty. We want PaperKite to be a place where our contributions matter, we are challenged in what we do, and each PaperKiter is a valued member of our community.

Studio in the heart of Wellington

Ample meeting rooms, gender neutral bathrooms, Arcade Machine, Corn-hole, a quiet space to find refuge for downtime or to express breastmilk. Lots of break out spaces and comfy couches for lounging or thinking-time. Our Studio was custom built with our team in mind and with Wellington’s best eateries and bars at our doorstep.

Community & Championing the mahi

We down tools on Friday arvo to welcome newbies, share, learn and connect with each other; showcase our mahi, share exciting industry news or upskill our team. And we close out every week by giving thanks and sharing what we’re grateful for.

Team Activities & Adventures

We get the whole team together regularly for activities, dinners and strategy sessions. This might include Whanau & Friend nights or overnight adventures. And Discipline Teams meet every week to collaborate and indulge in grade A banter.

Kai for all

Barista grade coffee machine, our own microbrewery and a complimentary drinks fridge that are available to all. PaperKite provides fruit, snacks, chocolate, and a cheese board every Friday. And Monthly Kai Squads for you to break bread with different PaperKiters every month.

Celebrating you

Take your birthday off! PaperKite also rewards and recognises how long you’ve been with us with treats, gifts and extra leave days. You’ll have access to the tools you need to do your most meaningful work and the support to do so.

Health & wellbeing

PaperKite offers an Employee Assistance Programme which involves free confidential support and counselling services, and we have Mental Health First Aid trained team members. All PaperKiters can join our free group Health Insurance plan and we provide access to sick leave from day one of your time as a PaperKiter too. PaperKiter's are also offered annual flu vaccinations, the flexibility to attend health and wellbeing appointments and are treated to the occasional onsite Massage Therapist.

Flexible working

We’re proud of the diversity that makes up the PaperKite community and that means appreciating different needs. PaperKiters can work remotely and have flexible hours and we trust everyone to meet their commitment to our mahi and to our culture and community.

Our learning and development framework was driven and designed by our people.

We are obsessed with helping our team grow and be challenged with training and upskilling opportunities as well as supporting any other aspirations you may have. Whatever your goals are, we have formal and informal times of the year to make them known, and get you to where you want to be.

We strongly believe in sharing knowledge with the whole team. That may be taking part in our weekly ‘Mahi Matters’ showcase, or sharing your passions at one of our Friday sessions. We have a regular time set aside every week to learn, motivate and be inspired.

At a higher level, we developed our own bespoke Growth Pathways Matrix; a set of skills and competencies that you can reflect on to set goals and enhance your craft. This is just one part of the Growth Pathways Framework to help guide and grow you at PaperKite. We encourage peer feedback to suggest areas of improvement and celebrate your milestones. We also encourage conversations around performance and your measures of success at least twice a year. All of these are in addition to regular 1:1s with your Lead.

Giving and receiving feedback or ‘Telling the Kind Truth’ happens all the time at PaperKite, so you won’t have to wait till your peer reviews or 1:1s for this. We give virtual ‘High 5s’ on Slack and we close out every week by inviting everyone to share what they are grateful for in person.

Our people-first focus offers the opportunity for any team member to be part of our Wider Leadership Forum, a regular space for your voice to be heard and contribute to PaperKite’s strategic initiatives. The team is also invited to be part of our People Experience Squad, a team 100% focused on evolving our culture through listening to our people.
